The present-day news of the awful life-trauma caused to young brains by separating children from their secure families brought to mind the short story I wrote in 2009. The same sort of abrupt separation happened to a generation of young children in Finland because of the Russian threat to exterminate the Finns when they would conquer them during the Winter and Continuation Wars. (They never did conquer the Finns!) 70,000 children were shipped to Sweden abruptly, and that painful event was the basis for my story, EEVA DREAMS OF FALLING. The suffering of that generation was memorialized about the time I wrote this story, by a touching statue by sculptor Anna Ruusuvuori.
