COMING March 23 and 24, 2019.

BELLINGHAM MUSIC CLUB
I’m on the board of Bellingham Music Club, a 103-year-old organization that promotes live music in Bellingham. There’s lots of live music in Bellingham these days, but when BMC was founded, the idea was novel. What we do now that is unique in Bellingham is that we offer monthly free concerts in the morning, so that seniors who can no longer manage an evening outing can still experience live performances. We call it “a night on the town…by day!” To help pay the cost of these free concerts, we offer ticketed evening full-length concerts with the same artists the next day.
During the winter, Bellingham Music Club runs competitions for high school and WWU student musicians, leading to evaluations by adjudicators, and cash prizes. Look on the website for times and locations of these performances. www.bellinghammusicclub.org
The next concert in our season will be May 1st and 2nd, with cellist John Friesen in recital. Information will be posted as it becomes available.
DENMAN BAROQUE
In May, this wonderful magical island offers a week of preparation for a slightly reckless performance of The Fairy Queen, by Purcell… DenmanBaroque.com
PAST EVENTS
January 19, 2019
Violinist Edwin Huizinga and Celtic guitarist William Coulter are riding a whirlwind of a string of successes. Edwin performed with singer Renee Fleming at John McCain’s funeral, just before he left for the palace at Versailles to play the debut performance of his opera THE ANGEL SPEAKS, with the orchestra of Tafelmusik, funded by the Ontario Arts Council.
Now he has rejoined William Coulter, Celtic guitarist and ethnomusicologist, who has recorded many CDs of solo and ensemble folk music from the Celtic traditions, the Shakers (three cds), and American music with roots from Germany, Spain, Africa, and Tibet. Coulter is also a professional recording engineer and teaches guitar at University of California, Santa Cruz.
Together these two are FIRE AND GRACE, a cross-over Baroque to folk duo of uncanny skill and breath-taking speed. Their combined energy is enough to launch fireworks. Bellingham is one of the stops on their Northwest Tour 2019. It’s a not-to-be-missed event on January 19, 2019 at 7:30PM at First Congregational Church.
